KASEY O’BOYLE: WHAT U WAITING FOR?

November 2019 to January 2020

What U Waiting For? (WUWF) is an artistic investigation of factors that prevent or encourage people to take risks. In this work, Kasey O’Boyle considers her feminine identity and role in society, particularly as a teaching artist. In her studio practice, Kasey analyzes her students’ behaviors and, in turn, uses color, shape, and pattern to practice a fearless, childlike approach toward discovery and art-making. This is the artist’s most extensive solo exhibition to date.

Not for Sale: This “show within a show” asks, “Why do people value objects and artifacts and select them for presentation?” Not for Sale invites the audience to appraise the impact of a personal art collection, revealing the artist’s intent and interests.

About the Artist

Kasey O’Boyle is an artist living and working in Washington, DC. She received her BFA from Syracuse University, studying Art History and Painting. In high school, she began painting at the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo, MD. As a student of Walt Bartman, I learned, "Don't be afraid to express what's in your head."  She has worked on many large-scale commercial and residential projects in the DC area.

“An essential part of my background is a thorough knowledge of different painting styles - from abstraction to realism - and an understanding of the proper medium for a particular application. “
